The Forty Residence
project description
The Forty Residence, located in the Bangtail Mountains east of Bozeman, is situated within a conservation easement. Facilitating conservation goals and protecting the natural beauty of the site was a priority in this project. In order to limit the site disturbance as much as possible, the landscape designs are intended to integrate the modern architecture into the existing landscape. The home was carefully sited adjacent to, but not disturbing, the mature evergreen stands on site and the grading will dissolve into the existing topography. Board Form concrete walls will extend into the landscape distinguishing the motor court from the native meadow. The organizing element connecting the outdoor living spaces and the modern architecture is a linear planting band. This axis will provide natural relief throughout the built structure.
