CREATIVE PHILOSOPHY

Landscape architecture is storytelling and community-building. Its success depends on understanding the past and anticipating the future. At Field Studio, our design philosophy is born of respect as well as inspiration. We blur the boundaries between where design ends and nature begins. This is a gentle revolution — we offer our expertise with humility. We design built environments for healthier communities and better quality of life. We integrate human elements into the natural landscape and restore nature within urban worlds. We respect the power of the natural world as well as its fragility, choosing plants and materials for both sustainability and resilience.

DESIGN PROCESS

Our work begins with on-site exploration, a careful inventory and analysis made possible by our own physical connection to the land. This discovery carefully considers all aspects of the site and its usage — existing natural and built features, views, and owner aesthetics and desires. Design vision is then manifested through hand-drawn sketches and renderings. Once design has been finalized, we directly support the team during construction and installation. Field Studio works in close partnership with architects, contractors, engineers, landowners, and municipalities, always engaged towards a common goal: preservation, improvement, and enhancement of the environment.

COLLABORATIVE APPROACH

As a small team fluent in multidisciplinary design, we connect past with future, and consider ourselves collaborators above all. We believe the best results are born of shared imagination, open communication, and unhindered cooperation. We invite our clients and project partners to join us in the intrinsic reward of the creative process, and work side by side with us from the beginning. Each project shares commonalities of cooperation, ecological sustainability and design longevity.
