We are seeking design professionals who are creative, open-minded, and eager to work in a collaborative fast paced studio environment. Collaboration within the studio offers opportunities for each team member to contribute to every stage of a project from Schematic Design through Construction Administration.
We have immediate openings for the following positions: Senior Landscape Architect (10+ yrs) and Project Manager, Mid-Level Landscape Architect/Designer (6+ yrs). Positions are solely based in our Bozeman, Montana office and do not offer remote work opportunities.
POSITION 1: senior landscape architect
10+ YRS PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE, 3+ YRS SUPERVISORY EXPERIENCE
As a Senior Landscape Architect at our studio, you will utilize your creativity and technical skills in a wide array of projects across the Northern Rocky Mountains with a boots-on-the-ground approach. You will contribute your expertise and be involved in all project stages, applying skills in conceptual development, iterative design, graphic development, and construction documentation and administration. By providing your essential voice to our firm, you will concurrently enhance and expand your skillset. This is an associate-level position intended for those on a career path to Principal.
The ideal candidate for this position will have a high level of Landscape Architecture business knowledge, strong leadership skills, and the ability to identify business development opportunities. He/she should maintain project profitability while ensuring client satisfaction, assign tasks to junior staff, and deliver the final product within budget and on time.
Qualified applicants will:
Assist our firm in delivering timely high-quality design and client services with passionate professionalism.
Coordinate all phases of the project with clients and team members, including, but not limited to, scheduling of work, utilization of staff resources, client approvals, Principal approvals, and site inspections.
Proactively develop leads and obtain new business contracts.
Manage and provide design leadership for multiple, large, and/or complex multidisciplinary projects.
Maintain current contracts and obtain follow-up projects from existing clients.
Negotiate contracts and additional service agreements.
Effectively review client invoices in a timely manner.
Develop and monitor project budgets.
Authorship articles, newsletters, etc. in the Landscape Architecture profession.
Skills Required
Candidates must be self-motivated and demonstrate a solid understanding of Landscape Architecture and all phases of design and construction; understand high-end residential and public projects; and exhibit client-focused professionalism with the ability to manage multiple projects and teams of junior staff. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, SketchUp, and Lumion is a must. Working knowledge of Rocky Mountain plant materials is a plus.
Education Requirements
Minimum 10 years of related experience.
Minimum 3 years of supervisory experience.
BSLA, BLA or MLA from an accredited program.

POSITION 2: project manager / Mid-Level Landscape Architect/Designer
6+ YRS PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
We have an immediate opening for a Project Manager / Mid-Level, Full-Time Landscape Architect/Designer that is passionate about landscapes of various scales.
Candidates must: possess superior level of business knowledge in the field of Landscape Architecture; present a professional leadership image to all employees of Field Studio and exhibit strong leadership skills within the design practitioner and design client community; continuously identify business development opportunities and utilize resources to obtain and achieve this goal; maintain a successful track record of project profitability while consistently obtaining a high level of customer satisfaction; define projects, coordinate and monitor the work and assign appropriate tasks to staff; and deliver the final product on time and within prescribed constraints budget constraints. This position reports to the Project Principal. Primary responsibilities include developing project design concepts, preparing, and reviewing construction documents and specifications, and construction administration.
Qualified applicants will demonstrate:
Minimum 4 years professional landscape architectural/design experience through all phases of design and construction documentation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.
Creative/innovative problem-solving and technical design skills including hand sketching, graphic rendering, an aptitude for digital media and software.
Experience supervising professional staff including but not limited to Landscape Architects. Ability to coordinate workload and arrange for additional resources as needed.
Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously and ability to meet fast-paced project timelines and take on diverse projects.
Experience working directly under project managers in a supportive role producing hand and computer graphics, schematic design packages, 3D digital models, and construction documents.
Experience managing projects, and project budgets.
Organization and coordination of all project documents and deliverables.
Construction Administration experience including job site meetings, issuing supplemental instructions, review of submittals and shop drawings during the construction phase.
Skills Required
Candidates must be self-motivated and demonstrate a solid understanding of the design process, from conceptual design through construction documentation. Strong verbal and graphic communication skills, conceptual design, presentation graphics, hand drawing, construction documentation, soils, grading and drainage. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, SketchUp is a must. Proficiency in Lumion and working knowledge of Rocky Mountain plant materials is a plus.
