Darby Pierce

Darby is a designer at Field Studio with a passion for healthy human and non-human ecosystems. She grew up in Sandpoint, Idaho, a close-knit eclectic community situated on a glacial lake amidst an amphitheater of mountain ranges. Growing up within a family and town that valued the outdoors, she developed a strong foundation of love, respect, and gratitude for the natural world.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Science from the University of Idaho, Darby worked under a green building consultant in Berkley, California. Following the immersive experience in the construction world, she sought to find a career that both satisfied her love for science and desire to be creative.

Darby returned to school and completed her Master of Landscape Architecture at the University of Oregon. Throughout her academic career, she was engaged in various projects that explored diverse scales, design strategies, and environmental considerations. She thrives on designing green spaces that are interfaced within the urban jungle, prioritizing environmental and sustainable methods, and balancing the human and natural world.

Outside of the office, Darby loves staying active in nature with her dogs and experiencing international cultures and their food through travel. She enjoys hiking, paddleboarding, skiing, and yoga. She is also a big fan of breweries and yummy restaurants.
