BRR Ranch

project description

The BRR Ranch sits at the base of the Bridger Mountains outside Bozeman, Montana. With spring creeks and a stretch of the East Gallatin River flowing through this property, this ranch offers world class fishing opportunities. A significant component of the project was re-establishing native vegetation along the spring creek corridors. Detailed evaluation of the soil conditions and hydrology of the site guided this revegetation effort. Over 50 test pits were established to monitor ground water elevations at the appropriate planting sites prior to planting. In addition to the aquatic restoration, the Master Planning effort included designs for a new trail system to provide access to the creek. These trails were developed in close coordination with the Ranch Manager to incorporate the functional considerations for cattle management and equipment. The scope for landscape design also included a new main residence, ranch manager’s house and barn, a greenhouse, gardens, several ponds and a remote fishing cabin.
