Centrally located in the Bitterroot Valley, this property hugs a mile of the Bitterroot River and offers expansive views of the Bitterroot Mountains. Close coordination with the architect ensured the landscape concept responded to cues from the minimalist forms and detailing of the architecture. The design includes low concrete walls which extend into the landscape to define the entry of the main house. The aim in this project was to take advantage of the sweeping views while seamlessly integrating the landscaping into the surrounding context. This goal was influential in siting a new residence and guest house, in addition to designing improvements to habitat and agricultural land.
